She has worked as a press staff member for a NC Governor and served on the staffs of gubernatorial and US Senate campaigns. She worked with a top-ranked NC lobbyist to secure the “Seatbelts for Safety” legislation, and has coordinated programs for visiting international dignitaries through the US Information Office. During her eight years as the Executive Director of the Havelock Chamber of Commerce, Mary was awarded a commendation from the Commanding General of Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, for her work in lobbying against base closure threats.
