About Mary Kurek
Sometime in the last year or so, I began referring to myself as a Visibility Consultant.
Endlessly attracted to people with "big" ideas and unusual challenges, on any given day, I could find myself seeking publicity for an athlete or making high level business connections for an IT client.
After some grappling with the idea that perhaps I was trying to be all things to all people, it occurred to me that everything I was doing was related to marketing.
Marketing is all about getting visible...
and, in order to get visible, you'd have to be one heck of a networker.
I felt really comfortable with that whole philosophy, because networking is my playground. It's the subject on which I've written professionally for years and a skill I practice professionally for clients who like having someone network for them.
Since everything I do requires "being seen" - I landed on the title "Visibility Consultant" and it stuck.
So, now that you know my philosophy on what I do, here's the micro-bio: My first job at 19 years old was as a Press Staff member for a NC Governor (spent years working political campaigns after that).
My last non-profit job was that of Chamber of Commerce Executive Director where my media skills married with business sense and eventually pushed me into a private consulting business.
Now, I dig up business leads for clients by conducting professional networking campaigns. On occasion, I add a bit of consulting in various-- generally related to interesting marketing ideas/opps.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of our military and will promote Chambers of Commerce any chance I get. I love the Yankees, am addicted to Twitter and yoga, and am more entrepreneurial than I should be.
Now, you know most of what you need to know about Mary Kurek, Visibility Consultant. Nice to meet you here - look forward to meeting you online or on the phone.
